It’s a new and glorious month and how excited we are about what God is set to do in and through us in this month of May. Pastor began to teach during the sunday service by reading from Psalm 150 where the word of God instructs us to praise God and teaches us how to do so, she charged us to train ourselves to do the word, to respond to the instructions given and to learn to praise God with a dance, Pastor went on to declare May as the month of the Holy Ghost, announcing that this month, we will be so concious of the Holy Ghost in our lives, hearing the voice of God and knowing that he is the one talking to us.

Pastor read to us the words of Jesus in John 14:16-17 where he promised to send another comforter who will be with us forever, irrespective of what we face, he’ll always be right there to comfort us. From this, we get the idea that there was a first comforter and that was Jesus himself while the Holy Ghost is the other comforter who came after him. To learn how this comforter functions, we looked at how the first comforter functioned, while he walked the earth, Jesus provided solutions to issues, he was a comforter not just in word but in deed, he actively brought comfort to those in dire need of it even to the point of bringing the dead back to life. Pastor made us understand that God has seen our lives from the beginning to the end, he knows where we would need help and what supernatural interventions we may need and when we need him, he would be right there, she charged us to be conscious of his presence in our lives, to focus on him at all times instead of any problem we might face. It doesn’t matter who is against us, as long as we focus on the one who is with us to help us, we will get the help we need anyhow and in any way, there is no limit to his ability. Pastor showed us the several attributes of this comforter, he is a way maker, a miracle worker and he is full of kindness, we saw this demonstrated in the life of Jesus, he was kind to those who denied him, who doubted him and even to those who persecuted him.

Pastor’s final lesson for the day was taken from Ephesians 1:13-14, we are given insight to something that happened after we believed the gospel, we were sealed with the Holy Ghost, branded by God himself as his workmanship that we are, we learnt that the seal on a product shows it’s quality, therefore having the seal of the Holy Ghost points to us as God’s own product, the first and the best. The seal also points to what kinds of accessories are acceptable to be used on the device, having the seal of the Holy Ghost means there are some things we should not accept, some things that are not good enough for us, the word of God shows us that with us, lack, poverty, sickness and confusion are not a match, they have no place in us and as such, we must not accept them, on the contrary, goodness and mercy are examples of accessories that are a perfect match for us. Pastor charged us to refuse the wrong thoughts or reasonings knowing that we have been sealed with the Holy Ghost and to accept only what the word of God gives to us.
