Happy New Month! It’s another glorious new beginning in the year of New Beginnings and it was such a delight to be gathered in God’s house for another time of transformation by the word. Pastor’s message began from Psalm 1:1-3, teaching us about the blessed man and where he is not found, we saw that the one who is blessed is the one who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. Pastor charged us to not listen to ungodly people, nor take advice from them, she reminded us that the word of God is wisdom and it should be the only motivation for what we do, she also taught that blessed men do not stand in solidarity with sinners and are not found among those who make an habit of mocking others no matter what the basis is, rather, the blessed man is the one delights in the word of God and who meditates on it day and night. We learnt that we can train ourselves to delight in God’s word and once we do so, we would begin to walk in the blessing, we also saw where the blessed man is found in Malachi 3:16-18, he is found among those who fear the Lord and who meditate upon his name continually.

Pastor went on to show us what the blessing is in Psalm 1:3, it says the blessed man shall be like those planted by the rivers of water that bring forth their fruit in due season and whatsoever he does shall prosper. Pastor made us understand  that the blessed man always brings forth fruits in due season meaning that if we would keep to God’s instructions on how to live like a blessed man, there will always be a manifestation of the blessing whenever it is needed. We saw something similar to this in what God told Joshua in Joshua 1:8, instructing him to meditate on the book of law day and night and to observe to do all that is written therein with the eventual result that he would burst into prosperity.

We went on to see in Matthew 6 that God already knows what we need and he doesn’t want us thinking about them because he has planned that when we need them, we will get them. We ought therefore to not judge our blessings based on what we have, but based on our ability to get whatever we need when we need it. Pastor charged us to take God’s word seriously, because it is in doing so that we get the results.

We saw in Proverbs 22:3 that those who have good sense realise that there is danger ahead and avoid it while those who do not have good sense just keep going and would later suffer for doing that, emphasizing to us the need to get serious about keeping God’s instruction to keep away from ungodly relationships that would hinder us from walking in the blessing and to meditate on his word instead. Pastor declared the month of June as the month of Meditation and the word was received with joy and excitement by everyone present. Glory to God!
