What an awesome time we had fellowshipping with the Lord and with one another in church!Every part of the service ministered the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, transforming our lives in the most remarkable way in this glorious month of progress.Pastor began by sharing different accounts of a popular event that happened before Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection; how that Mary, being led by the Spirit of God came on time to anoint Jesus before his burial, because when the other women would come on the third day- being restricted from doing so earlier because of the great sabbath- he had already resurrected and they had no opportunity to anoint him.Remarkably, even though she was led by the Spirit of God to do so- unbeknownst to her- the Apostles, inspired by Judas Iscariot had indignation against her and thought it a waste that she spent all of the ointment, that could have been sold for three hundred pence, on Jesus, instead of given the sale returns to the poor. Pastor showed us through the word, that the disciples, filled with their idea of righteous indignation did not realise that they were being manipulated by Judas Iscariot for his own selfish gains, the Bible showed that he was a thief and his original intention was neither righteous nor charitable, he wanted his share of the proceeds from the sale of the ointment, and with this point stated, Pastor exhorted us to beware of being manipulated by individuals and unknowingly work towards their own selfish goal while thinking we are advocating for righteous causes. She also pointed out that people have not changed, in every era, you have had people who considered giving to the poor more noble than giving to Jesus, ignorant of the fact that the original inspirator of that thought was Judas- a thief, who was rebuked by Jesus for vocalising such a thought and intimidating Mary, who later betrayed Jesus, and died by suicide, a shameful man- never to be identified with, but these people unknowingly identify with him when they consider it a waste to give to Jesus or consider some amounts too precious to be given for the work of the ministry. We were strongly encouraged not to be like them, even as we prayed that we would be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.
