Sunday service left everyone of us inspired to be all that the word of God is. Pastor started by reminding us that our consciousness is what makes the difference and not just the knowledge we possess. She charged us to continually remain conscious of the word so that even in times of inconveniences, our manifestation of the word remains undiminished, she also reminded us that one major way to build consciousness is by meditation, that is thinking upon and speaking the word.
Pastor delved into the core of the message teaching us that having been born of the word, our purpose in life should be all that the word of God is. The word of God is that word that expresses everything that God has said, is saying and will ever say – as manifested in the person of Jesus, when we received the gospel, we were born of the word and we became the word of God. Pastor taught us that the consciousness of this purpose will drive us to spend more time with the word. She explained that our expressions are a result of those we spend time with, a combination of the expressions of all those we have admired and this makes fulfilling our purpose of becoming all that the word is easy, by spending more and more time with the word, we become the word. Pastor reminded us that while the epistles show us who we are and prove to us that we can live like Jesus, the gospels contain the words of Jesus, the Word and so as we spend time listening to the Word through the gospels, we become more like him, she admonished us to make the word of God our best friend, such that in making decisions that affect us, we consult the word of God.
Pastor took the message to another pedestal as she explained God’s word to us in 2 Corinthians 3:3,
“Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart”
We are a letter, a message from God, the words of Christ and God wants to expose us to the world. Pastor reminded us that Jesus is not ashamed to be identified with us, he boldly talks about our oneness with him in his word, he thinks we are good enough, he called us a chosen generation, his choice and his favorite. Pastor read the scripture in The Passion translation,
“As a result of our ministry, you are living letters written by Christ, not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God—not carved onto stone tablets but on the tablets of tender hearts” 2 Corinthians 3:3 TPT
We are living letters, the living word just like Jesus is the living word. He wants us to be bold about who we are but to aid that boldness, we have to be conversant with who we are – the word. We are a message and the word of God is a message, and so though we can hear and do the word of God, more importantly we are the word.
Knowing this, our approach to the word changes, we move beyond trying to do the word to being an example of what the word says. For instance, where the word says “Be anxious for nothing”, we move from trying to not be anxious to being an example of those who are never anxious about anything. We become an example of peace, confidence, faith, hope and love, people look at us and see how they ought to response for our response has become a message for others to follow.
Pastor went on to show us that among all of his servants, the only one God can fully trust is his word and so having worked on the earth with different servants in the persons of Moses, David, Solomon and others who all had flaws, he sent his word in the person of Jesus.
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” Isaiah 55:11
In that verse, God showed that the only servant that would do all his desire is his word and we see this in Jesus, he had no flaws, instead, God spoke of him saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” Matthew 3:17
We see why the word is our example, and this says a lot about us and what God thinks about our potential. Pastor charged us to spend time with the word, pray with the word, listen to the word and to be the word of God to our world.
