“And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”
Ephesians 5:2
Pray for others- live beyond yourself and your ambitions. In fact, in accepting Jesus’ sacrifice for you, you were accepting to abandon your ambitions and desires for his- you were deciding that the rest of the time you spend on the earth would be towards his desires and purposes:
“Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind… That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.” 1 Peter 4:1-2
He died for you and gave you his life, when you receive his life, he expects to live through you and prolong his days on the earth through you (Isaiah 53:10)
You realise that Jesus prayed for others- he prayed for sinners (Luke 23:34) and he prayed for his disciples; those who were with him and those who would eventually join him that means he prayed about the present and he prayed concerning the future, and you should do the same- pray for others:
“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;” John 17:20
Pray for those whose faith have become weak that they are strengthened (Luke 22:31-32); look beyond yourself, live beyond yourself- live for someone greater; Jesus.
