“I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.”
John 17:4

Paul had just been arrested in Jerusalem and Jesus appeared to him and told him:
“…Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.” Acts 23:11
He told him to cheer up, and went on to talk about his purpose!
We see that when Jesus prayed to the father, he talked about his purpose and the fulfillment of it and when he talked to his Apostle, Paul, he talked about Paul’s purpose and the fulfilling of it, this had happened before:
“Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.” Acts 18:9-10
He encouraged him to continue doing what he had told him to do. There is a purpose for your life, there are things God expects you to do:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
Recognizing this should reflect in your communications with God.
