“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;”
1 Timothy 2:1

The Bible shows us how leaders can be influenced by others unto unrighteousness; like Herod, he knew John was a good man, but pressured by those around him and their thoughts about him, he beheaded John.
You would think as the king, he should be immune from such influences, he gives the final word after all, but it was not so, Mark 6:14-29.
And so just like we are admonished to pray for ministers to preach as they ought to, we should pray for leaders to make decisions as they ought to.
Same thing happened with king Darius- manipulated to sentence Daniel to the lion’s den by evil men around him, he could have just annulled the decree he had made with another decree like King Xerxes did over here: Esther 8:8, but he didn’t, thank God for Daniel and his boisterous faith in a living and loving God! Daniel 6.
You see that the voices that have access to a ruler might overrule the desires of that ruler?
“If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.” Proverbs 29:12
This is why you pray for the leaders, some might have good intentions but get influenced otherwise, and so statements like ‘he was a good man till he got into office’ begin to surface. Pray!
