We had our special “Meet Jesus” service on Sunday and what a delight to have encountered Jesus through his word and to have the desires of our hearts met. The service started on a glorious note with prayers, worship and a beautiful special number rendition from the choir, by the time Pastor came up to preach, the atmosphere was charged with the power of God and filled with the various expecations of everyone in attendance.
Pastor began to show us examples of people who met Jesus and what they did in response, Andrew met Jesus and after spending some hours with him, went to tell his brother, Simon that he had met the Messiah, also bringing him to Jesus, Philip also upon meeting Jesus first looked for his friend, Nathaniel urging him to come and see the Christ, Matthew after meeting Jesus invited all his friends, the publicans and sinners to see and hear him and the Samaritan woman whom Jesus met at the well ran to invite all the men in her city to come and see a man she was convinced was the Christ. Pastor pointed us to something Jesus said that explains why all those who met him had such a blessed experience that they felt they had to share it with someone else, in John 6:35, Jesus referred to himself as the bread of life saying that anyone who comes to him and believes in him will never hunger nor thirst, this means that all the desires of their heart, no matter what they are would be met once they come to him.
In Luke 4:18, he said that he was anointed to preach to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to deliver those held captive and set at liberty them that are bruised, this means that when the poor meets him; they’ll hear something that changes their position in life, the brokenhearted will receive joy, those held bound by situations and bad habits will be delivered and those that have been bruised by past experiences will be set free, this explains why all those who met Jesus were so excited, upon meeting him, something changed in them and they knew it just like what happened with the woman with the issue of blood.
We went on to see other examples of people who were physically bound and received a complete healing and transformation once they met Jesus, one of such was a woman with a spirit of infirmity that had kept her bound for eighteen years causing her to be doubled over, when Jesus saw her, he freed her from that infirmity, in Capernaum, a noble man’s son was sick and at the point of death, Jesus spoke the word and the boy was instantly healed, we also saw Jairus’ story, how he fell at Jesus feet begging him to heal his daughter, same with the Syrophenician woman, all these people knew that once they met Jesus, they would receive the answer to their desires concerning their family members; no matter how bad the situation was, once they heard of or met Jesus, the story changed.
We learnt that Jesus did not come to condemn or judge anyone, rather he came to save men and set them free.
As the service rode on, Pastor led us to talk to God about what we desired and as we did so, she began to minister through various words of knowledge concerning issues in the bodies and lives of those in attendance, and many were healed and delivered as she gave those words and they came out to testify to the glory of God.
Hallelujah!
