“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
John 8:12
Jesus said if you follow him, you would never walk in darkness and one of the things he made clear was that he had his own will:
“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will…” John 6:38
“…nevertheless not my will…” Luke 22:42
But he discarded his will for the father’s.
“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” John 6:38
“…Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” Luke 22:42
When you became a Christian, you did not become a robot- your desires and aspirations were not automatically removed from you by God, but through his word he expects that you realize that his desire and aspiration for you is far greater than what you could ever imagine for yourself:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
And just like Jesus, you abandon your will for his!
