“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation…”
1 Peter 2:9
Notice the tenses in the main verse: he is telling you who you are right now, he is reflecting your true ‘natural’ face to you. The word is a mirror afterall:
“For if anyone hears the word but is not obedient to it, he is like a man who looks at himself in a mirror” James 1:23, ISV
He says you are God’s choice, and more interesting, he says you are holy! Sanctified for the master’s habitation, because the holy Spirit lives in you:
“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God… Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate…” 2 Corinthians 6:16-17
And sanctified for the Master’s use:
“…he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21
God chose you to live that holy, sanctified life:
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” Ephesians 1:4
He chose to you be a partaker of his holiness:
“…but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.” Hebrews 12:10
So, be conscious that you are holy, and now that you are holy, you have to live your life in holiness.
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” Hebrews 12:14
