It’s a new month and we are grateful to God for his never ending mercies, during the communion service, Pastor showed us through the word what God can do and that he can do beyond our highest imaginations.
We saw how that time and time again in the history of the word, there have always been those inspired by the devil to thwart God’s plan not minding that He is God, Pastor brought our attention to how this takes away the idea that we will not encounter challenges because we are children of God, Jesus was God himself yet he was tempted with numerous challenges throughout his walk on the earth, however, God has proven over and over that nothing can successfully stand against him, we learnt from the account of the three Hebrew children in Babylon, they had been thrown into fire heated to the highest degree possible such that those who threw them in were slain but they came out of that fire without any hurt or smell of smoke on their body, we learnt that God may allow the challenge to come to us but there is a guarantee that we will not be hurt.
We also learnt from the story of Samson, he was surrounded and trapped in the city of Gaza but by the ability of the Spirit of God, he lifted the gate of the city with its two posts and took them up an hill, something that could never have been imagined, we learnt from Peter’s deliverance when Herod planned to kill him, how an angel showed up and the soldiers, chains and gates were unable to stop them.
We learnt from how God delivered the Israelites during a time of war, when they needed water, the prophet Isaiah prophesied that there would not be rain or wind yet they would have sufficient water for themselves and their cattle and he pointed out that it was a small thing for God to do (2 Kings 3:17-18). There is nothing God cannot do, there is no situation too deep that he cannot bring a person out of and he does not have to do it the way man would think, he can do it anyhow.
One more inspiring example we learnt from was that of Paul and Silas who were arrested and placed in an inner cell to ensure there was no way of escape, we see that consistently, men always plot to hinder God’s plan, they shut up the gate against Samson, fastened Peter in between soldiers with others at the door and gates to secure him in and fastened Paul’s feet in stocks but all such limitations have always been disgraced, at times, the challenge would seem like it’s big enough to hinder God’s plan for our lives but God is always ahead and dealing with the situation is a light thing for him, anytime people plot against God, there is only one consistent expectation, that plot will fail; that same God lives in us and he has said he will never leave us nor forsake us, what glorious assurance we have in him.
Pastor declared September as the month of Possibilities, she charged us to always remind ourselves this month that nothing is impossible with God and to expect unquantifiable miracles. Hallelujah!
