Glory to God! The word of God is alive and we are privileged to listen to the word everytime we gather as believers. Last Sunday, Pastor Kola shared with us the word of God beginning with a recap of what we’ve been learning over the past weeks. He emphasised the preciousness of the Holy Spirit and the need to recognise and appreciate his value in our lives as our comforter and our ever present help in time of need. We saw in Luke 11:9-13 that Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as a good gift and we were reminded that the goodness of a gift is judged by its usefulness, God having saved us realised our need for an helper and he came himself in the person of the Holy Ghost, what a perfect gift we received! To understand the importance of the Holy Spirit, we saw in Acts 1:4-5 how Jesus charged his disciples to not go anywhere until they received the Holy Ghost because he was all they needed, we also saw in John 4:10-14 and John 7:37-39 Jesus referring to the Holy Spirit as a living water which if any man drank, he would never thirst again, rather, that water will be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life teaching us that the Holy spirit is the source of our satisfaction. Pastor Kola charged us to learn to look within us for solutions just as Jesus did, focusing on the greater one within rather than looking elsewhere for answers whenever there is a challenge.
Pastor Kola went on to refresh our minds on the importance of being led by the Spirit of God against doing things of our own self, he emphasised the need to wait on God consistently positioning ourselves to be constantly led by him. We read from Isaiah 40:27-31 where we learnt that God neither gets weary nor faints, rather he gives strength to the weary, We saw that even the youth will grow weary; those who depend on their strength will get to a point where their strength can no longer suffice but those who wait on God will find that their strength is constantly renewed. We learnt that when there is a challenge, what we need is strength and in waiting on God, our strength gets renewed and also that waiting on God means waiting to get his word or leading on a matter because with his word comes the ability to fulfil it, just as Sarah received strength to conceive through the word, likewise Mary. We also saw that those who wait on God will mount up with wings like eagles teaching us that when we give room to the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives, allowing him to strengthen us, where others are struggling, we will find ourself making progress effortlessly. Halleluyah!
