It’s our month of the Holy Ghost and Sunday’s service left us with a greater conciousness of the need to subject our lives to the leadership of the Holy Ghost and the innumerable blessings that result from doing so.

Pastor began to share from Romans 8:14 where we learnt to recognise the matured sons of God by observing how they live their lives, they are led by the Spirit of God, they do not live their lives anyhow, they don’t do things or speak anyhow, rather, they are ever concious that they are under the leadership of the Holy Ghost, always consulting him before making any move concerning their lives.

We learnt from Jesus our perfect example, he neither did things his way nor talked anyhow, in John 5:19, he said he couldn’t do anything of himself but only what he saw the Father do, in John 12:49, he spoke of having been given a commandment by the Father on what to say and that the Father’s commandment is life everlasting, he believed that whatever the Father commanded him to say would bring life and would work forever, in John 7, his brothers challenged him to show himself openly but he responded that his time had not yet come because he was sensitive to and working with his Father’s timing, in John 14:10, he again emphasised that the words he spoke and the things he did were not of himself but of the father, in John 8:26, while talking to the Jews, he mentioned that he had many things to tell them but he would only speak the words of the one who sent him because the one who sent him is true, meaning his words are correct and in John 7:18, he showed us that the one who seeks God’s glory will not speak of himself, rather he would say only what God has said and in doing so, will never make a mistake.

Pastor made us understand that having to wait for God to talk or move before we do is not God trying to punish us, rather it is God’s principle to ensure that we walk in his fullness, always living our lives accurately according to his plan. We learnt that even when things seem to be slow or God isn’t say anything, we should still wait knowing that once he talks, things will fall into place perfectly, we also learnt to be concious that God can redeem the time we spend waiting and we saw this typified in John 6, the disciples had left Jesus with the boat, but he still caught up with them on the sea and would have even surpassed them, and the instant he joined them on the boat, they appeared at their destination miraculously.

We learnt how to recognise the Spirit’s leading, John 14:26 tells us that his ministry in our lives is to bring what God has said to our remembrance, John 16:13 also makes us understand that he will not speak of himself but only what he hears from the Father proving that whatever leadership he gives us will be within the word of God, he will never lead us contrary to what God has said in his word, he is the one who reminds us to pray, to study God’s word and to be a witness of Jesus, all in accordance with what God has said. Pastor charged us to train ourselves to respond to him promptly because as we do so, his leading becomes clearer and more obvious to us.
