It’s Easter and what a glorious time it is to be reminded that Jesus is alive and He is alive in us!
During the Sunday service, Pastor Kola taught on the subject of Faith in the Ressurection of Christ, reading from 1 Corinthians 15:1-23, we saw that there were some in the Corinthian church who began to teach that there was nothing such as the resurrection of the dead, Paul’s defense in response to them was that if that was true, it meant Christ did not rise from the dead and that their faith was in vain but because we know that Christ rose from the dead, all those that die in christ will also experience a resurrection and those of us who believe in Christ will never be put to shame, we went on to see that this promised ressurection is not only for the world to come but is something we can hope to experience in this world.
We learnt from Martha’s encounter with Jesus in John 11:20-27, she had faith for a future ressurection but did not so much as believe in a present day ressurection, Jesus tried to make her understand that he was the ressurection and the life and that right there, there could be a ressurection. We saw an instance in the new testament in which a ressurection took place, Peter and John encountered a man who was lame from birth at the gate of the temple and by using the name of Jesus, his dead legs were restored to life, Peter in responding to the crowd that gathered referred to the resurrection of Christ and faith in his name as the means through which the man received perfect soundness.
We also learnt from the story of the woman with the issue of blood, she similarly received perfect soundness simply by exercising faith in Jesus, she had said that if only she could touch the hem of his garment, she knew she would be made whole. Pastor Kola exhorted us to exercise faith in the ressurection of Christ, if he could resurrect out of both physical and spiritual death, then we can experience that same ressurection in our bodies or in any situation where we require a ressurection. Hallelujah!
