Sunday service was a glorious kickstart to the second quarter of the year of New Beginnings, we are thankful to God for a new beginning in our lives through the revelation of the word we received in the service.

Pastor began to show us in the word that as Christians, we are likened to Isaac, just as he was, we are the children of promise, born of the word as against being born of natural circumstances, referred to in the word of God as Abraham’s seed. Having established this foundation, Pastor taught us some things that God began to teach him during his sojourn on the earth, in the midst of a famine, God instructed him to stay in Gerar contrary to his desire to leave for Egypt with an assurance that he would be with him and that he would bless him for Abraham’s sake. Isaac obeyed and stayed in Gerar where he sowed and reaped in that same year an hundred fold, the Bible further records that he waxed great, moved forward and grew until he became very great to the extent that he became mightier than the Philistines and they began to envy and be intimidated by him, it didn’t matter that the land was barren and everyone else was running away from it, what mattered was who he was as Abraham’s seed and the blessing upon him, which was God’s presence with him.

This was the same mindset Abraham had when he had to separate from Lot, he was fully conscious that no matter where he went to, the land did not determine his prosperity, God’s blessing and presence with him did, this was also the case with Jacob while he served Laban and with Joseph while he served as a slave in Portipher’s House and then in prison, everything they handled noticeably prospered by reason of who they were as Abraham’s seed. We learnt that our location does not matter, what matters is who we are and because we are Abraham’s seed, God is obligated to bless us. It does not matter how bad things get around us, God’s word already showed us in Isaiah 32:15 that once the Spirit comes into a place, the wilderness would become a fruitful field and the fruitful field will become a forest, Pastor also showed us in the word that the promise of the Spirit is the blessing of Abraham and this is the same Spirit God has said would never leave us nor forsake us.

Pastor gave us further insight into the faith of Isaac, how he sought to bless Esau and make him the leader even though he knew what God had said, we saw how after Jacob with the connivance of his mother came in and subtly got the blessing, Isaac couldn’t attempt to just withdraw his words when Esau later showed up, he knew the power in the words he had spoken to ensure that the one who received the blessing walked in it, he didn’t need to give any physical substance to establish the blessing, the word was enough, that is the same blessing we received when we received the Holy Spirit and now the blessing is in our mouth and with our words, we can sustain our lives.
