Our special communion service on Sunday was such a glorious time of fellowshipping with the Spirit of God.Pastor began by sharing a brief lesson from the devotional for the past week, we saw from 1 Peter 3:10 that he that would love life and see good days should refrain his tongue from speaking evil, we learnt that it is possible to love our life and that this is God’s plan for us, and the very reason for which he sent Jesus to give us life in abundance, but for this to become our experience, we must be careful with our words because those who speak evil position themselves to experience evil days.Pastor went on to share from Genesis 1:11-12 giving us insight into an important occurrence during the creation, God spoke forth grasses, herbs and trees and it was so; the picture we are given is that as God spoke, they sprang out and became existent at the same instance, however, in Genesis 2:4-5, we see a different picture, we are told that God made and created these things before they grew because it had not rained and there was no man to till the ground, showing us that even though these things became real in the realm of the spirit immediately God spoke, it took some time for them to manifest in the physical, the lesson here was that the words we speak become real the moment they leave our mouth even though it may take a while to manifest, the timeline between when the word is spoken and when it manifests is what causes some to doubt and say it’s not working and their confession about their words not working now becomes their reality, Pastor buttressed this by pointing to why Jesus said we will give account of every idle word we speak because even though we may have considered them idle, they became real the moment they left our mouths. Pastor further expoused to us God’s intent for our lives as seen in Ephesians 3:10, that his manifold wisdom will be revealed to others through us, his children, from here, we went on a journey through 1 Corinthians 2, where we saw the Apostle Paul talk about a certain wisdom hidden for our glory from the foundation of the world, he referred to this wisdom as one that eyes and ears have neither seen nor heard but that it has been revealed to us by God’s spirit who alone knows the deep things of God, the focus was on verse 13 which says that when we come to know this wisdom, our response is to speak it, for the manifestation is in the speaking.We further learnt from the words of Jesus in John 8:43 where he talked about some who could not understand his speech because they do not hear his word, this meant that they did not know his revelation hence could not fathom his manner of speech, we saw this displayed when Jesus told the crowd at Jarius’ house that his daughter was merely asleep and when he told his disciples that Lazarus was asleep and he wanted to go wake him up, the former laughed him to scorn and the latter could not understand him until he spoke to them plainly, they did not have the revelation he had so they could not understand his speech, we learnt that this applies to us in our daily walk, many times, as we speak out of the revelation we have received contrary to the way the world speaks, others will not understand why we speak the way we do but it only confirms that we are doing the right thing, Pastor further charged us to ensure that we speak God’s word consistently because as Christians, we were born to talk, it was the first thing we did in order to receive salvation and it is one thing we would have to continually do to live the life of God on the earth.
